PRESS RELEASE

PHILADELPHIA, PA— On Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 10:00AM at 4012 Poplar Street, an historic event that is half a century in the making will take place.  Christian, Muslim, Asian, and Leaders representative of all races and faiths will be coming together to unite against the senseless violence in our City.

Archbishop Mary Floyd Palmer, the eldest daughter of Reverend Melvin Floyd, the Presiding Prelate of the multi-cultural Philadelphia Council of Clergy, the Founder of the Community Healing Project 4 All, and one of the leaders of this movement explains the need for solidarity, “In the early 1970’s, my Father, worked in collaboration with Crisis Intervention Network, the House of Umoja and others to address the gang war crisis. Fifty years later, we realize that the secret was in everybody working together.”  Imam Jamil Abdullah, another co-founder, confirms her observations by stating, “There is no greater crisis in our City than the almost daily violence.  We stopped it before and we can do it again.  But it is crucial that we battle from a united front.”

The best known of their resources are their HEALING POSTERS that open lines of communication between neighbors.  They send a clear message of care for our children by saying, “Not my Child, Not my Block, Covered in Prayer or Let the Healing Begin” and are prominently displayed in the front windows of homes across the City.  Kimberly Davis, the Executive Vice President of Social Impact & Growth Initiatives of the National Hockey League, heard about and led the NHL to join this exciting initiative.  “We are proud of the wonderful efforts of our new partners at the Community Healing Project 4 All to promote community healing especially to our young people.”  Davis continued, “The NHL has an in-home and in-school STEM curriculum called FUTURE GOALS and we see CHP4ALL’s HEALING POSTERS communication tool as a way to keep our children safe as they battle the many challenges dealing with their education.  We are sponsoring thousands of flyers with the hope that every time a child sees these colorful, powerful messages in a window they are reminded that they are loved, valued and have great purpose.” Imam Abdullah comments, “This is why I like this Community Healing Campaign’s approach.  We are looking forward to distributing HEALING POSTERS and providing hope and resources to our hurting neighborhoods.  And best of all, it is FREE.”

That message is echoed by Jeff Brown of ShopRite, who is not only sponsoring HEALING POSTERS, but has agreed to make them readily available to customers at his stores as a way of spreading much-needed peace in the City of Brotherly Love. Archbishop Floyd Palmer concluded by sayings, “Many Mothers are tired of feeling helpless and ask me, ‘What can I do?’ I tell them every child walking down your street and seeing these signature messages of hope knows that they are wanted, valued and loved.”

Invitations were extended to all our District elected officials; however, the confirmed list of featured speakers includes Archbishop Mary Floyd Palmer, Imam Jamil Abdullah of the Philadelphia Masjid, City Councilmember At-Large David Oh, ShopRite Owner Jeff Brown, Larry Boone of Designated Seniors, Chante Love-Mason of Every Murder is Real (EMIR), Mrs. Elaina Wiley of George Eric Smith Scholarship Foundation, law enforcement and other community representatives.  Our neighborhood youth, The West Powelton Steppers and Drum Squad, will begin this press conference with a powerful presentation.  One hundred boxes of food, beverages donated by our sponsor Liberty Coca-Cola, personal care packages, resource information, raffle items and thousands of our FREE Healing posters will all be available to attendees.

As a result of this unique gathering, participants will share our upcoming events, announce program needs, recruit and share volunteers, point hotspots, highlight success stories and keep the spotlight on violence until we see a difference.  To join in the partnership or to get Healing Posters, call or text 833-722-4748 with your contact information.  LET THE HEALING BEGIN! For more information, visit us on Facebook @Community Healing Campaign or www.CommunityHealing4All.org.
